One question, what is art?
Now that we’ve made up our minds about making the world’s LARGEST piece of art using images from social networking websites such as Facebook and Twitter, we thought we would have a little chat about what would class this as art.
So what is art? Is it one painting of a woman named Mona? Is it a shark preserved in formaldehyde? Is it an arrangement of lights? Or is it something so completely mad and unique, that no one would ever dream of producing it?
Does art have to be produced by a well known artist or sculptor who was plenty of history and recognition associated with their name? Or can it be made simply by anyone and everyone? Is art a painting or a photo? Is it a sculpture or something random?
The fact is, art can surely be anything. As history shows there are no set rules to determine what art is. Art changes all the time. Art is different and unique in every sense of the word.
This is where we would like to start our project. It is something unique and different. We are not artists or sculptors with years of work and a reputation to show. We do not know much about art at all if we are being totally honest.
These key factors are ones which we believe will make TheSocialArtwork a success. As we’ve mentioned before, we believe that something like this has never been done before. At least we hope not. This would be modern art produced by anyone and everyone. The whole world of social networking coming together to produce something is unique.
Nobody famous or infamous is making this piece of art. It is everybody and anybody. Who knows, hopefully we will get some celebs on board sharing their TwitPics. Or perhaps even some astronauts? That would be pretty impressive.
As we’ve said before, we are simply trying to do something different and unique. Some people will want to be part of this, others will not. It is as simple as that. If Mark Zuckerberg can invent Facebook from his dorm and make it a huge success, then surely we can make TheSocialArtwork as great success too!
Please help this project grow by spreading the word and telling your friends to check us out!
Thank You!
